Job 26:5 (ESV)

5 The dead tremble under the waters and their inhabitants.

Bildad had thought it necessary to remind Job of God’s majesty and power. Here in Job 26:5–14 Job gives his own account of it. He has never doubted God’s majesty and power. In fact, his words of praise show that he understands better than Bildad how great God really is.

Bildad had spoken of God’s power over heavenly beings (Job 25:2–3). But that is only the beginning of God’s power, says Job. Even those beings that to us seem inaccessible—the dead and the creatures of the sea—tremble before God.
