Saul understood that it was his mission to take the gospel first to the Jew and then to the Gentile (Acts 13:14, Acts 13:46; Acts 14:1; Acts 17:1, Acts 17:10, Acts 17:17; Acts 18:4, Acts 18:19; Acts 19:8) and he made a principled decision to do so on his journeys (Romans 1:16–17; Acts 13:46–47), a decision rooted in God’s prior promises to Abraham.1 We can assume that Saul and Barnabas would have reached out to any and all Gentiles associated with the synagogue who were eager to learn more about Jesus Christ.2
5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them.
