God’s wisdom is completely out of men’s reach. However, God did reveal certain things to us, so that we would have a creaturely, limited form of wisdom.
Our wisdom consists in fearing the Lord. To fear him means to respect him and to respect his order for creation, in an attitude of faith and love. The negative side of this fear is to turn away from evil.
We as readers should take this message to heart. It will not do for us to probe into mysteries that God has not revealed to us. This has been a mistake that many theologians have made over the centuries. Let us be content with what God has revealed to us, and worship and obey him with reverence.
28 And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”
