Justification is the legal declaration of God whereby He declares believers in Christ to be not guilty
(on the basis of Christ’s suffering and death), and perfectly obedient
(on the basis of Christ’s obedience or righteousness. To be justified in the sight of God is thus to be declared righteous, someone who enjoys God’s favour and can look forward to eternal life in his presence.
