Elihu now applies his argument (Job 35:9–13) to Job’s own situation. If God does not pay attention to the prayers of unbelievers, he can certainly not be expected to answer the prayers of people who accuse and blaspheme against him! This is what Job had done, by claiming that God is nowhere to be found and that he gives no answer to the pleas of righteous (Job 13:24; Job 19:7; Job 23:8–9; Job 24:1; Job 30:20).
14 How much less when you say that you do not see him, that the case is before him, and you are waiting for him!
