Commentary on Job 36:18–20 (Summary)

Job 36:18–20 (ESV)

18 Beware lest wrath entice you into scoffing, and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.

The meaning of the Hebrew for Job 36:18–20 is uncertain. We can assume that Elihu is warning Job against godless ways of responding to God’s chastisement, whether these godless ways consist of bribery (NIV) or of angry rebellion (ESV).
