Job 42:2 (ESV)

2 “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

Job had always confessed that God can do all things. But this time, his confession is different. He now realizes that God acts purposefully, with a purpose that cannot be thwarted. If God’s ways seem mysterious or meaningless, it is because we as humans lack the understanding to discern God’s wise purposes. Therefore, Job will ask no more questions about his suffering. He has remembered who God is, and that is enough.
