After the 180 days, Ahasuerus gave yet another banquet, this time for all the people who lived in the citadel of Susa (see Esther 1:2). Esther and her uncle Mordecai were probably also present at this feast, since they lived in the citadel (Esther 2:5). In typical Eastern fashion, the men and women celebrated separately (Esther 1:9).
5 And when these days were completed, the king gave for all the people present in Susa the citadel, both great and small, a feast lasting for seven days in the court of the garden of the king’s palace.
