This proverb refers to the good wife who builds, not destroys, her house (Proverbs 14:1). Her portrait is found in Proverbs 31:10–31. Such a wife cannot be inherited or even given to you by your parents. She is a gift from the Lord himself. When Eliezer had to search for a wife for his master’s son, he started by praying that God would show him the right wife. This would be a sign of God’s “kindness” to his master (Genesis 24:12–14, Genesis 24:27).
