What is known about the church in Laodicea?

Revelation 3:14 (ESV)

14 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation.

We know nothing with certainty about the origins or development of the church of Jesus Christ in Laodicea. Yet Luke’s observation that “all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks” during the time when Paul laboured in Ephesus suggests that this church came into being shortly after the year AD 50. Since Colossae was the neighbouring town to Laodicea, we might infer from Colossians 1:7 that Epaphras served as a teacher of the gospel in this city for some time (Colossians 4:12).
