The return of the sacred temple vessels was prophesied in Jeremiah 27:22. With their restoration and return to Jerusalem, the author of Ezra shows not only that God keeps his promises, but also that there is to be a continuity in worship.1 Just as the people who lived in Judah before the exile worshipped God in the temple containing the 5,400 articles of gold and silver, so will the people of Judah after the exile worship God once more.
7 Cyrus the king also brought out the vessels of the house of the LORD that Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and placed in the house of his gods.
