1. Revelation 4:9 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

How does 4:9 typify the unending song of 4:8?

Revelation 4:9 (ESV)

9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever,

Revelation 4:9 typifies the song as “give glory and honor and thanks” to God. The term “glory” recognizes that the God who can only be described by what’s around his throne (see Revelation 4:3–8) is infinitely worthy of praise and respect. The “thanks” he is due confesses that even these creatures around the throne are dependent on him for their very existence (Revelation 4:11).
