The reference to father and son using the same girl suggests a violation of the laws that prohibit a confusion of sexual relations (Leviticus 18:15; Leviticus 20:12; Deuteronomy 22:28–29, Deuteronomy 22:23–27).1 It also suggests that the Israelites were not remaining faithful to their marriage partners and that various other sexual immoralities were being practiced by them. These practices reflect poorly on the Lord’s name and are also a violation of the third commandment.
