Jesus tells his followers that it is more important to obey God’s will than to please your family (the same idea is found in Matthew 10:34–39). In fact, those who repent and believe in Jesus are made part of a new family (Hebrews 2:11). Thus, what is important to God is not your DNA but whether or not you sit at the feet of Jesus, listening to and obeying him.
35 For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”
