We had met the Lamb in Revelation 5:6 “standing, as though it had been slain.” Though sacrificed for sin, the Lamb had risen from the dead, ascended into heaven, taken the scroll from God’s hand, and subsequently opened the seals that made the history of the world unfold—including the seventh trumpet of which Revelation 12:1–17 is a part. This Lamb is also the male child the woman bore and the dragon sought to devour, but who was caught up to God and to his throne (Revelation 12:4–5). It is due to his triumph on Calvary that Michael was able to defeat the dragon in the heavenly battle and it is equally due to that triumph on the cross that “our brothers” could disarm the accusations of the dragon before God and be righteous before him.
11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
