Revelation 12:13–17 (ESV)

13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.

Genesis 3:15 had described the antithesis, the hatred and conflict God placed between the woman and the serpent, between the woman’s offspring and the serpent’s offspring. This antithesis marks all of history and explains the enmity and the persecution the woman and her seed experienced in the old dispensation as well as the new, even today. Through this part of the Revelation Christ showed to John, the Lord has worked out for our edification what the implications of Genesis 3:15 really are.
