What does this "marvelling" recall?

Revelation 13:3 (ESV)

3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast.

The term translated here as “marvelled” appears frequently in the Gospels to describe the public’s reaction to Jesus’ mighty works (e.g., Mark 5:20; Matthew 8:27; Matthew 9:33; Matthew 21:20), which prompted many to follow him. This beast seeks to imitate Jesus and succeeds in doing so.
