All who dwell on earth, irrespective of language, social class, skin colour, or whatever distinction there might be will join in worshipping the beast. This is no surprise given the natural bent of the depraved human heart (Genesis 6:5; Ephesians 2:2). It should be noted that the circle of those who worship the beast is smaller than the circle of those who worship the Lamb (Revelation 5:9–14; Revelation 13:12); the beast’s adulation is limited to those dwelling on the earth. In fact, on the earth are those who refuse to worship it (Revelation 13:8). So the effort of the beast to show that he is more than the Lamb is upended!
8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.
