Though there remains a location in present day Jerusalem known as Mount Zion, the reference to Mount Zion in Revelation 14:1–20 is not meant to direct our thoughts to that physical spot on the map. The term stands here for the gospel of redemption and so by extension designates every place where the gospel of redemption is proclaimed and treasured (see Psalm 87:1–7). This is primarily faithful churches, though it may certainly including the kitchen table or any place where children of God gather to courage each other in the gospel.
1 Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.
