What exactly is meant by this knowledge?

Hosea 4:6 (ESV)

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

First of all, the knowledge is the instruction that the priests had to give about the law and God’s great deeds. But it is also about knowing-in-love. If you really like someone, you want to get to know him or her better. This also applies to the relationship with God: Bible study is extremely important, especially within the relationship of love with the Lord God. Knowledge is: a sure knowledge and a firm trust, this combination. Here also applies: if knowledge is lacking, love for and loyalty to God also disappear. And then people start living liberally. As a result, they perish. The downfall begins where the spiritual leaders start neglecting biblical teaching!
