What does Jude 1:11-19 reveal about what God does in and through me (the work of the Holy Spirit)?
God the Holy Spirit works in believers so that they will bear much fruit (see Galatians 5:16–21; John 15:8). Those who truly belong to God will bear the fruit of the Spirit. Though the work of the Spirit to change us is gradual and takes time, it is nevertheless a work that does and will happen wherever there is true faith. The work of the Spirit is thus not to give me special dreams (Jude 1:8) but to help me hold on to Christ and fight against my sinful desires rather than indulging them as the heretics did.
11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion.
