What is the consequence of the people’s adultery against the Lord?

Hosea 2:8–11 (ESV)

8 And she did not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the wine, and the oil, and who lavished on her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.

God will intervene. He shows that he will not be mocked. He creates distance between Israel and her lovers. And he does this with the aim that she will long for him again, her lawful Husband, and will say: I was better off with him than I am now. Here God announces the exile.
