1 Corinthians 10:5 (ESV)

5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Despite being joined to Moses, saved from slavery in Egypt, and cared for by God’s own hand, most of the Israelites became disobedient. Their blessings did not exempt them from God’s judgement. They were overthrown (or scattered).

This should serve as a warning to the Corinthians, who have all been baptized in Christ’s name and who have been blessed with every spiritual gift (1 Corinthians 1:7).
