To the warning of 1 Corinthians 10:11–12 is added a great and comforting promise: God will never allow his children to be tempted beyond their strengths, and he will provide the way of escape
out of each temptation.
Depending on the context, the Greek (and specifically Jewish) word translated as temptation
can otherwise be translated as trial.
Given the admonitory tone of 1 Corinthians 10:1–33, temptation
is the more fitting translation here.
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
