The word translated “vision” has to do with receiving a revelation from God. The book is thus a revelation from God received by Obadiah. Today, we tend to think of visions as dreams and pictures and there are lots of people who claim that God speaks to them in this way. In the Bible, it is interesting to note that most visions are not pictures but words. The revelation that Obadiah received from God was in clear, precise, intelligible, understandable words. His revelation is not ambiguous and uncertain; it is clear and concrete.
