The Lord repays all people according to their actions, whether good or evil. In Obadiah, the day of the Lord
refers to the time of divine intervention when Edom and all the godless nations will be judged in just measure for their conduct. The judgment will be fair and proportional to what they have done to others. Though the universal righting of all wrongs will only take place when Christ returns, Edom will serve as an example of a universal and inescapable principle of God’s justice when it is destroyed for its violence against Jacob.
15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head.
