What does Edom's drinking point toward?

Obadiah 1:16 (ESV)

16 For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so all the nations shall drink continually; they shall drink and swallow, and shall be as though they had never been.

Edom may have drunk in celebration of Jerusalem’s fall together with her allies, but ultimately Edom will be forced to drink from the Lord's cup of wrath (Psalm 75:7–8; Isaiah 51:17–23; Jeremiah 25:15–27). The cup and drinking are often used as a metaphor for divine judgment (Jeremiah 49:12–13; Ezekiel 23:31–34).1
