1. 2 Samuel 12:24 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why is this moment of Solomon’s birth so special in the history of God’s people?

2 Samuel 12:24 (ESV)

God likes to give his people peace. That is the task of the kings. The first king was Saul and he was disobedient. The second king was David who subdued all the enemies of Israel. Thus, he was a man of war and bloodshed. That was necessary but it was not God’s goal. He wants to bring peace and that peace will come under this King Solomon (see 1 Chronicles 22:6–11 and 1 Chronicles 28:2–7).
