Jedidiah means loved by the Lord. Solomon was God’s beloved. He was God’s chosen one. You realize that he was definitely chosen by God when you consider that he was the fourth son of David and Bathsheba. Solomon was not the second son after the baby that died, but he was the fifth son, if you also count the baby that they lost. David says in 1 Chronicles 28:5 that God chose this son “to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.”
