1. Psalm 51:4 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What kinds of grief do we see in the Christian?

Psalm 51:4 (ESV)

4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.

In the New Testament in 2 Corinthians 7:10, Paul writes about two kinds of grief. Grief of the world is focused on yourself. You can feel very ashamed. But your biggest problem is the consequences of your sin or how people talk about you. It is all about yourself. It is not focused on God. Think of Saul. His tears were tears because he felt abandoned by people. He did not cry because of what he had done to God. And you see the same in the life of Judas, who betrayed Jesus.
