This verse is very similar to Proverbs 11:8. The Lord will not allow the wicked to succeed forever in their plots and schemes against the righteous. Sometimes God works in such a way that the plans of the wicked that they designed for the destruction of the godly rebounds upon the heads of the wicked, while serving to promote the righteous. Recall Haman and Mordecai (Esther 5:1 – 7:10). Let us learn to trust in the Lord, who causes things to work in this way, and not concern ourselves unnecessarily with the treachery of the wicked.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and the traitor for the upright.
