Proverbs 25:19 (ESV)

19 Trusting in a treacherous man in time of trouble is like a bad tooth or a foot that slips.

A bad tooth hinders our eating and our speech and makes us miserable. An unsure foot hinders our ability to stand or to run to safety. If we rely upon a faithless person, we plan misery and harm for ourselves in trying times. Therefore, we are instructed to be careful in whom we place our confidence. Those walking most intimately with the Lord are least likely to fail us, for they will be most like the Lord Himself, who never fails us.
