The righteous person has a big heart and mind. He is concerned about others, especially those who are poor and needy (Philippians 2:3–4). He does this because he has been lifted out of his personal poverty and need by the Saviour. The Saviour directs and empowers him to have compassion and practical concern for others. The world of the wicked is empty and small, like their own continually shrinking hearts. The wicked cannot and do not care for others.
7 A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.
