Joshua 18:1–19:51 (ESV)

1 Then the whole congregation of the people of Israel assembled at Shiloh and set up the tent of meeting there. The land lay subdued before them.

Given what we have learned from the other lists in Joshua, Joshua 18:1 – 19:51 does not really appear to add anything new or particularly significant. It seems as if the Spirit in these chapters wants to remind us of truths that we have already heard and reflected upon in some detail. This is a repetition that is meant to impress these truths on our hearts and minds. Certainly there is a place for us to consider the same truths again and again, isn't that what happens when we gather for worship? We hear the demands of God’s law and what he expects from us. We hear the promise of the gospel and what Christ has done for us. Both necessary and important repetitions because we are so prone to forget and ignore Scripture.
