Revelation of God the Father

Joshua 23:1–16 (ESV)

1 A long time afterward, when the LORD had given rest to Israel from all their surrounding enemies, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,

What does Joshua 23 reveal about who God the Father is? The Lord is faithful to his promises. He gave rest to the people of Israel, bringing them into the land of promise (Joshua 23:1). He fought for Israel against the nations (Joshua 23:3), driving out great and powerful nations before them (Joshua 23:9). He will help Israel drive out the survivors of the nations remaining among them (Joshua 23:5).

The Lord communicates with his people. In the Book of the Law of Moses Israel know what are the terms of the covenant and what God expects from them (Joshua 23:6).

The Lord is angry at sin. When the people of Israel serve other gods he responds by sending curses upon them, eventually resulting in exile (Joshua 23:15–16).
