Revelation of God the Father

Joshua 24:1–28 (ESV)

1 Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God.

What does Joshua 24 reveal about who God the Father is? The Lord is gracious. He called and revealed himself to Abram even though he was a pagan worshipping other gods. He brought Israel out of Egypt even though they worshipped other gods (see Joshua 24:14). He does not treat his people as they deserve.

The Lord is powerful. He sent plagues upon Pharaoh; he destroyed the armies of Canaan. No one can stop his hand or prevent him from accompanying his purposes.

The Lord is holy. He is completely different from anyone or anything else.

The Lord is jealous. He desires the worship of his people and will not have them serving other gods (idols).
