Peter expresses a touching wish for the displaced persons he addresses in the Diaspora: “May grace and peace be multiplied to you.” A similar greeting is found in Peter’s second letter as well as in Jude. This formulation assumes that “grace” and “peace” are already present among these elect exiles, but in such measure that Peter wishes both to multiply in their midst.
