It is the Scriptures which Christ uses in order to keep us from falling, repeatedly they are vindicated and confirmed in our experience. And so Paul wrote and said,
John McKnightHusbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with a washing of water by the Word. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing[see Ephesians 5:25–27]. And it is by the sanctifying of the Word of God that Christ works, that his church might be presented glorious without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; and it is by this means that he is able to keep you from falling.1
