Nebuchadnezzar expresses his confidence in Daniel. Once again he calls him by the name Belteshazzar. He knows from experience that this man is truly in contact with God. If no one can explain the dream, then Daniel will be able to. Again you see that the king does not believe in the Lord as the only God. He is still thinking of more gods with whom Daniel would be in contact.
18 This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. And you, O Belteshazzar, tell me the interpretation, because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation, but you are able, for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”
