When John first saw the exalted Christ in heaven, he had a “golden sash around his chest” (Revelation 1:13). In keeping with the rest of that vision, the golden sash gave expression to his kingly majesty. These seven angels, emissaries of the divine Inhabitant of the heavenly sanctuary, fittingly wear similar golden sashes. That attire makes clear that, as these angels carry out their task in relation to the plagues, they act on behalf of their glorious Sender.
6 and out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests.
