What does the scene at Shechem contrast with?

Judges 9:27 (ESV)

27 And they went out into the field and gathered the grapes from their vineyards and trod them and held a festival; and they went into the house of their god and ate and drank and reviled Abimelech.

The scene of the temple of Baal-berith being taken over by a mob of drunkards contrasts sharply with the picture of well-being Abimelech had promised the city (Judges 9:2).1
