There are many theories about the symbols, about the letters that were written on the wall. Some seem more plausible than others. Yet no one can tell us with certainty what it looked like. What is certain to us is the explanation that Daniel gives of it through God’s revelation. Nowhere do we read what kind of symbols or language was on the wall. What is clear, however, is that certain words go with certain symbols on the wall. Daniel makes clear what is written on the wall: Mene, mene, tekel, parsin. Then follows the correct explanation.
