2 Peter is an encouragement for God’s church to continue persevering in the Christian life on the basis of God’s promises. He wants us to know that God’s promises are sure, so that we will give ourselves to good works rather than indulging our sinful desires. We must not be taken in by those who say there is no judgment, and therefore we may live as we please.
Your third sermon from 2 Peter will focus on what it means to remember and how we can often deceive ourselves into thinking that knowledge of the gospel is all that is important. By using a lot of examples relevant to the people in the church where you serve, you want to explain what remembering means in practice.
12 Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have.
