Peter provides us with seven virtues to pursue. He may have chosen this number because seven symbolized completeness. However, his list is not exhaustive; other virtue lists in the New Testament also mention things like joy, patience, and gentleness (see Galatians 5:22–23) which are absent from the list given by Peter.
