The way of truth is a term used to refer to the Christian faith and way of life. These heretics (along with their followers) conduct themselves in a way that causes the Christian faith to be slandered as they relapse into pagan ways.1 They claim to be Christians but live like pagans and their behaviour impacts what society thinks about Christ and his church.2 This does not win people to Christ but drives them from him.3 Instead, if the gospel should be slandered and Christians mocked, it must only be because they have done good and not because they do evil (see 1 Peter 2:15, 1 Peter 2:19–20; 1 Peter 3:13–17; 1 Peter 4:12–19).4
2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed.
