Luke 6:39 (ESV)

39 He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?

In Luke 6:39–45 we find parables in which Jesus teaches about the attitude of citizens of God’s kingdom. Remarkable is the singular parable, while Jesus actually uses various illustrations. Apparently, it is a comparison for one and the same matter.

The sentence about the blind is worded in such a way that the answer is clearly no. A blind person cannot lead another blind person safely. This means one must internalize and conform to the words of Jesus to be a citizen of the kingdom. In other words, it is only when you are a mirror image of the heavenly Father that you are able to live such a life making you a safe and reliable guide for other people on their journey of life. If you do not meet the requirements of the foregoing, you are equal to the sinners. The result is that you are an unreliable guide.
