Why would crying and wailing come from the Fish Gate and the Second Quarter?

Zephaniah 1:10 (ESV)

10 “On that day,” declares the LORD, “a cry will be heard from the Fish Gate, a wail from the Second Quarter, a loud crash from the hills.

With these being most likely in the northern part of Jerusalem, they would probably be the first targets of attack. Israel hosted a north-south trade route for commerce. Great powers, like Assyria, Babylon, Syria, and non-Semitic peoples, had access to Israel only from the north.1
