In what way will the false teachers be paid back?

2 Peter 2:13 (ESV)

13 suffering wrong as the wage for their wrongdoing. They count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions, while they feast with you.

The destruction/judgment which they experience will be their reward. When the day of eschatological judgment takes place, the false teachers will receive a full payback for what they have done wrong.1 Whatever gain they may have now from their wickedness will eventually be a loss (or be lost) to them. They cannot hold what they gain.2 From this statement we have the first clue that profit and money was a driving motivation for the heretics (see 1 Thessalonians 2:5; 1 Timothy 6:5; Titus 1:11).
