Erosion of worship

Amos 2:8 (ESV)

8 they lay themselves down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge, and in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.

Clearly the worship in Israel had gone completely off track. We can shake our heads at this, but perhaps it is better to ask, Where does such going astray in worship start? It does not happen overnight. There is always a process…So where does that start? It starts with the erosion in our thinking of who our God is. It starts with us no longer fully appreciating just how great and glorious our God is—and thus how we should stand in awe of him.
