That balm and that physician refer to a God who lives and who can help and heal. But then the people must go to this Physician, visit him and pray, and lastly accept his advice and medicines. But they do not. Therefore, there is no cure for their disease.
22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?
